Scuba diving masks enable a diver to see clearly while underwater.
Light entering water becomes distorted by refraction making it
extremely difficult to see underwater. But providing an air space
between the eye and the water, light enters the eye normally,
allowing the diver to indulge in their watery surroundings.
Scuba diving masks are made from a durable plate glass over the
eyes and a layer of rubber or silicone (or a skirt) to provide
a watertight seal to the diver’s face. An adjustable strap
will keep the mask in place and sometimes there will be a snorkel
connected to the strap to allow air conservation at shallower
depths.
There a lot of different styles of scuba diving masks to choose
from. The standard round shape is a classic among divers because
of its adaptability to fit most faces shapes. For a specialized
fit, many modern masks have separated lenses that more resemble
everyday glasses, which are very popular for divers with narrow
or moderately-wide faces.
